Description :

Choquequirao was most likely built during the reign of the Inca king Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui and is considered to be the last bastion of resistance and refuge of the Sons of the Sun, Grandiose and mysterious, Choquequirao has lots of parallels with Inca citadel of MAchu Picchu and there are a variety of theories about its function.

Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISCA

Pick up from the hotel and we leave Cusco at 5:00 a.m. We arrive at the Cachora district at 10 am Afterwards we will load the luggage on the mules and / or horses. From the village we will observe the snow-capped mountains of the majestic Padrayoc at an altitude of 5482 meters above sea level. The walk on the first day is 21.70 km away. On the way you can also see Wayna Cachora in the distance. We will also be able to appreciate the landscape changes from precipices to snow-capped mountains. We will have our lunch at a place called the Capuliyoc viewpoint at 1:00 p.m. then we will descend through the pajonal sector until we reach our Chiquisca camp. On the way we will observe the Apurimac Canyon with its impressive abysses. Camp and dinner.

Day 2:CHIQUISCA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

After a delicious breakfast at 6:00 a.m., we will continue our hike to Shockquirao Trek.
Descending to Rosalinas beach at an altitude of 1500 m.s.n.m. then crossing the modern bridge we began to ascend to our next stop Santa Rosa; After a short break we will continue our ascent to Marampata (lunch place) where our steep ascent ends, from this point we will observe with a panoramic view and with greater amplitude as Choquequirao, Huanipaca, Nevados and the Apurimac Canyon with its beautiful waterfalls. After a short nap, we will continue our walk towards the Choquequirao Trek Archaeological Complex, a visit to the site of the archaeological group. Camp and dinner.

Day 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK – CHIQUISCA

At 6:00 a.m. Again we will visit the archaeological group to know in detail the importance of each sector and the functions they fulfilled, it is also very common to observe the flight of the condors and the magical landscape with the sunrise. Then we will return to our camp to have our breakfast. Then we will prepare our luggage to return along the same path, observing the great variety of flora and fauna; again passing through Marampata, Santa Rosa (lunch place), Rosalina beach and finally we will arrive at Chiquisca, where we will camp and have dinner.

Day 4:CHIQUISCA – CACHORA – CUSCO

Early after breakfast at 5:00 a.m. We will continue our walk to the Cachora district, on the way we will again appreciate the snow peaks of the majestic Padrayoc and the Apurímac Canyon, we will stop for lunch at the Capuliyoc viewpoint, continuing our walk we will arrive at the Cachora district where we will take our return bus towards the city of Cusco, arriving at 8:00 pm to the city of Cusco approximately.
